Privacy policy

Thai Taxi Calculator is designed to estimate metered taxi fares without requiring an account or creating a personal travel profile.

Who is responsible

Thai Taxi Calculator is operated by Iván Ramírez, an independent developer. Questions, privacy requests and complaints can be sent to ivanramg.work@gmail.com.

Information processed by the app

Location: if you grant location permission and choose “Use GPS”, the app uses your precise location to place a route endpoint and show your position on the map. You can deny this permission and choose places or map points manually.
Route information: origin and destination coordinates, route options such as avoiding tolls, and the resulting distance, duration, traffic and toll information.
Place searches: text you deliberately submit to an online place provider, an approximate search area, and the place you select.
Local app data: favourites, custom place names, recent places and previous estimates. These are stored on your device and can be removed by clearing the app's data or uninstalling it.
Operational and security data: an app-install identifier, IP address, request time, provider used, cache status, quota decisions and error information. Installation identifiers and IP addresses stored by our service are transformed into salted hashes.
Advertising data: when advertising is permitted, Google Mobile Ads may process device and advertising identifiers, IP address, approximate location, diagnostics, ad interactions and consent choices.

How information is used

We process this information to provide maps, search for places, calculate traffic-aware routes and fare estimates, remember choices on your device, prevent abuse, enforce spending limits, diagnose failures, measure aggregate service usage and fund the free service with clearly labelled advertising.

We do not sell personal information, use trip endpoints to build advertising profiles of our own, or require an account. A fare estimate is not an official quote and should not be used for emergency or safety-critical navigation.

Maps, places and route providers

The app displays Google Maps and may use Google Places for searches. Route coordinates may be sent through our Cloudflare service to Mapbox or Google Routes, depending on the provider currently available. If a fallback provider is activated, the same minimum route or search information may be sent to that provider. Provider requests are governed by their own terms and privacy practices:

Advertising and consent

The free app uses Google AdMob native ads. An ad may appear while a route is calculated and another may appear with the result. Where required, Google's certified consent platform asks for your choices before advertising is requested. Those choices determine whether personalised or non-personalised advertising may be served.

You can withdraw or change an applicable advertising choice from the app's “Privacy and consent” setting when that option is required for your region. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal. Ad technology providers available for your region are identified in Google's consent form.

Legal bases

Where European data-protection law applies, route and search processing requested by you is necessary to provide the service; abuse prevention, security and aggregate operational measurement rely on our legitimate interests in operating a reliable and financially safe service; device location permission and personalised advertising rely on consent where consent is required. You may withdraw consent at any time.

Retention

Route responses are normally cached for about five minutes to reduce external API use.
Short-term security and rate-limit records are removed after they are no longer needed, generally within a few days.
Aggregate operational counters may be retained for up to 400 days.
Favourites, recent places and estimate history remain on your device until you remove them.
Google, Mapbox, Cloudflare and advertising providers apply their own retention periods to information they process independently.

International processing and security

Service providers may process information outside your country. They use contractual and technical safeguards appropriate to their services. We minimise the information sent, use encrypted HTTPS connections, restrict server credentials and apply rate limits. No system can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and rights

You can decline location permission, choose locations manually, remove locally saved information, reset advertising choices where available, or stop using the app. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, receive portable data, withdraw consent and complain to your local data-protection authority. Contact us to exercise a right; we may need enough information to verify and fulfil the request.

Children

Thai Taxi Calculator is a general travel utility and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly request names, contact details or accounts from children.

Changes

We may update this policy when the app, providers or legal requirements change. The effective date above will identify the latest version. Material changes will be communicated in the app when appropriate.
